Information You Submit
Search terms
A name, place, or other term entered into a sponsored search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Scott County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its handling of the query.
Messages
If you send an email or contact message, we retain the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share those messages outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine technical information may be recorded when a page loads. This data helps operate and assess the site and can include:
- The visitor’s Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name, type, and version.
- Device category, operating system, and related settings.
- Pages viewed and time spent on those pages.
- The referring website, when one is supplied.
- Dates and timestamps tied to a visit.
Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies may be used to understand how people use the site. Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or removed. Some functions may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected information supports limited operating and service purposes. We may use it to:
- Keep the site available, stable, and responsive.
- Send a search request to the selected partner service.
- Understand which Scott County release-record pages visitors find useful.
- Locate errors, prevent abuse, and correct technical problems.
- Display advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests.
Websites Beyond Our Control
Links may lead to the Scott County Sheriff, Mississippi courts, MDOC, federal locators, release-record sources, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s privacy policy and systems control its data practices.
Advertising companies may use their own technologies to track activity across more than one website and select interest-based ads. That activity occurs on the partner’s systems, not as a release record maintained by Scott County Released Inmates.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may still be handled by service providers or disclosed where legally required, including:
- Search partners that process a visitor’s submitted query.
- Analytics services that measure traffic and page use.
- Advertising networks that deliver and assess ads.
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use standard, reasonable practices intended to protect information and site operations. No website, network, or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted personal information, use the Contacts page to request deletion.
Your Information Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify a request, a user may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal data we hold about that user.
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal data that is eligible for erasure.
- Opt out of certain processing where that right applies.
These choices concern information held by this site. A Scott County sheriff record, court file, MDOC record, or partner record must be addressed with the organization that controls it.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice as services or legal requirements change. An updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
